I travelled to Byron for a much needed break after recently being told by my doctor I was no longer able to continue running my business due to health reasons in which I was self employed for 13 years . After suffering from a very stressful and trying period this was suppose to be some time to just chill out and relax. I was happy with the facilities, rooms etc and also met many nice people at the Byron Bay Backpackers inn, the receptionists were also quite friendly. The only problem I had was when the owner of the Backpackers inn yelled out to me when I was nearby in the car-park calling out to me as if I was a dog. Owner: Hey mate, ''come here I want to have a chat with you''! Where are you from? I replied I had travelled from the mid-north coast of NSW. Owner: ''Okay so you're Australian? Yes I said. Owner: This isn't really a home for Australians! How long have you been here? a couple of weeks now? Me: About a week and a half. Owner: Well okay this isn't a place for Australians mate it's just how I run my business. So when are you booked in til? Owner: There are plenty of hostels in Byron, Share the love around mate. This happened on Remembrance Day 2017. I have been lucky enough to travel around the Coast of Australia and i have stayed at hostels as they are affordable and I also enjoy meeting people from other countries, especially as I am half European. Unfortunately though, I have come across this attitude a number of times. It is somehow not acceptable to be travelling Australia if you are Australian unless you're a grey nomad! Maybe one day it will be trendy and acceptable.

To be clear, I didn't stay there, I was lured in by a folding sign on the sidewalk advertising their coffee shop.Turns out they had both a coffee shop and a food truck, and it was the truck that had what I was looking for.Got my tea and sat down in their lounge to drink it. This place was FILLED with women in bikinis walking around. So if that's something you object to, then you should go somewhere else.Prices seemed good. But unfortunately I didn't get a real look at the accommodations, so can't actually comment on that.Overall, the people were nice, so it seems worth trying.RECOMMENDED

So lovely place for stay. Easy to go beach( they have own way) friendly staffs n clean toilet n u can rent bicycles for free! Unfortunately dont have so much own parking places but u can get a lot of parking places near by there(just 1m by walk)

Very cozy, and affordable accomodation in Byron Bay. The location it's very convenient with an almost private beach in front of the hotel. Services was helpful and kind. Facilities are in good conditions and are kept clean at all time. The number of toilets to rooms seem appropriate. As a bonus you can hire boards and bikes at no extra cost. Totally recommend it for groups, families or solo travelling.

This hostel is amazing! Ive been traveling in Australia for 2 weeks and this place is my favourite so far. The staff is awesome, super welcoming and helpful, I truly felt comfortable during my stay. The kitchen is very spacious with great amenities. The hostel is very clean as well, I saw in many opportunities employees cleaning my dorm, the bathrooms, the pool area as well as the kitchen. The hostel has a private door to the beach. The vibe is very laid back. On Wednesday night they had a BBQ night for only $8. Alex, the travel advisor, booked the sea kayak tour and made special arrangements for me. I would definitely come back!
